What is a ECO?

A ECO is a mobile power supply that can be integrated into commercial vehicles and charged using the vehicle’s onboard power supply, making electricity available anywhere. It can be compared to a generator, which is typically powered by diesel and emits CO₂ and particulate matter. However, the ECO provides a more environmentally friendly alternative as it is clean, emits no harmful substances, and operates quietly.

How long will it last? Specifically, how long does a fully charged ECO battery last?

The duration of a fully charged ECO battery depends on its output power and the connected equipment. ECO comes in different output powers ranging from 1600 W to 3500 W, with battery packs ranging from 1.2 kWh to 3.6 kWh. As the equipment connected to the ECO varies per user, it is not possible to predict the exact duration of a ECO battery. However, you can think of it like opening the tap of a water barrel – if the tap is opened a little (e.g., for a low-consumption laptop), the water takes a long time to run out. If the tap is fully open (e.g., for a heavy welding machine), the barrel drains quickly. In this analogy, the size of the barrel is the battery pack, and the tap represents the amount of power being used.

Is a ECO a battery?

Correct, a ECO consists of two main components – a battery and an inverter/charger. When combined, they form a mobile power supply system that can provide electrical power for a variety of devices.

Is a ECO an inverter?

No, actually the main component of a ECO is the battery, which stores the electrical energy. The inverter/charger is the secondary component responsible for converting the DC power from the battery to AC power for use with electrical devices, as well as for charging the battery from an external power source. Together, they form a mobile power supply system.

What is a battery?

A battery is an electrochemical cell that supplies energy and in which energy can be stored. This is done by means of a chemical reaction in the battery between the different components. ECO uses Lithium-ion technology.

Does the ECO need to be fully discharged before charging?

No. Completely discharging will damage the battery and shorten the life of the ECO.

What is an inverter?

An inverter is an electronic device that can convert a certain input voltage (for example 12 V DC) to another voltage (for example 230 V AC). In the context of the ECO, the inverter is a component that converts the direct current from the battery into alternating current that can be used to power various electrical devices.

What is power?

Power is technically defined as the amount of energy generated or consumed per unit of time, measured in Watts. In the case of ECO, this refers to the amount of power (in Watts) that the ECO can deliver. The Compact can deliver 1600 Watts, the ECO 1800 can deliver 1800 Watts, the 2500 can deliver 2500 Watts, and the 3500/Plus can deliver 3500 Watts for up to 10 minutes.

What is kWh?

kWh is an abbreviation for kilowatt-hour and represents a certain amount of energy in electrical form. 1 kWh is equal to 1000 watts of power used for one hour. The ECO has three battery options: the Compact has a 1.2 kWh battery, while the ECO 1800, 2500, and 3500 have battery options of 2.25 kWh and 3.6 kWh.

How does a ECO work?

A ECO is a combination of a battery and an inverter. When a ECO is installed in a vehicle, it is connected to a power source. This can be the 12 Volt or 24 Volt system already present in a vehicle, 230 Volt via shore power, or via solar panels. The ECO is charged by these power sources. The stored energy is then converted in the ECO into usable voltage, both 5 Volt, 12 Volt, and 230 Volt are available. When the battery of the ECO is low, it will indicate so. Recharging can be done through solar panels, connecting a shore power cable, or by driving the vehicle for a while via the vehicle’s alternator.

Is the ECO safe?

Yes, a ECO is safe to use as long as it is used according to the prescribed guidelines. Several safety features are integrated into the ECO to ensure safe use, such as insulation guards and earth-leakage circuit breakers. A BMS (battery monitoring system) is also incorporated to maintain the battery in optimal condition. However, it should be noted that the ECO is not intended for outdoor use and cannot be used continuously without recharging.

Where can i buy a ECO or find more information about it?

There are various ways to purchase a ECO. We have a selected partner network who are well-informed about all the details of ECO solutions. Please contact ECO to find the best partner in your region. Additionally, for more information, you can visit the ECO website.

Who makes the ECO?

The ECO solutions are designed and manufactured in the Netherlands, which is the largest technological region in Europe. Zeliox was founded almost 10 years ago and has since developed numerous solutions for mobile power supply.
